BMW DIXIE 1928
The BMW Dixi (1928) marks BMW's entry into automobile production and is considered a milestone in the company's history. Based on the British Austin 7, the Dixi was built under licence in Eisenach and conceived as a compact, affordable small car. Powered by a 0.75-litre four-cylinder engine producing around 15 hp, it reached a top speed of about 75 km/h – enough for the road conditions of the day. Particularly important was its role in bringing motoring to a broader segment of the population, thanks to its relatively low price and reliability. With the Dixi, BMW laid the foundation for its later development into one of the world's leading manufacturers of premium vehicles.
