Dear Minichamps collectors,
it is with great sadness that we have to share the news of the passing of our longtime photographer and friend, Detlev Schwarz, better know as BLACKY, in April this year. Not only a great loss for his family but also for everybody here at MINICHAMPS. His style of photography was unique and his staging with model car scenarios were so perfect, that we were all astonished by his talent. It will be impossible to fill the shoes, which he left behind, Blacky was a reliable and very valuable friend.
His image composition accompanied us for over 50 years. Collectors know them from our catalogues, books, posters, canvases and event prints. Blacky had the talent to make every model car look like the actual one, he knew every single detail and was able to capture the passion and dynamics in his world of images.
We can only thank you Blacky for your photos and joyfull way of life. Wherever you maybe now, we hope that you have great photography lighting,
